Tales From The Arts Hole on Tour - as a Cornish Art Gallery
There are moments, and there can even be episodes that a person can encounter in a lifetime … some are even worthy of being recounted ! .. and some not so much ! Of course it goes without saying that some lifetimes are saturated with tales of unending adventure … and others not so much !
I suppose like great art it is probably down to the reader or beholder to cast the decision as to which is worthy of recital !
Here we all are, in what I like to call the 'age of the professional charlatan' …. The Age of Donald Trump, of Brexit and it is a sad truth to say that most peoples stories have become so limited in scope as to be reduced to a mere vacation or two a year, some have become so limited as to have been rendered almost non existent ! of course a well presented digital façade can easily impress the notion of a higher shade of mediocrity and the clever use of the pocket photo and editing equipment , and platforms for sheer vanity such as facebook and Instagram , that all work on the shallow ebb of impression alone - in much the same way that a bright coca cola signage and logo hides the hideous addictive poison that it actually contains ….. and so Donald Trumps reign as president might sound grand if you just offer the address of ' Mr President ' - without acknowledging the fat loathsome brutish , sluggish shade of partial humanity that the guys actual name represents! The Man I am sure will be remembered for a series of outlandish expressive ' tweets ' - but will distract from the sheer lack of action that the man encompasses … the sad truth is that it will probably be edited into some kind of easy to read perfectly entertaining ' autobiography ' - one of the great literary works of our time I am sure ? or so the producers , promoters and retailers will have us believe if we follow the deceptive advertising mantras that are sure to accompany it !
George Bush and Tony Blairs Legacy will be the liberation of the middle east and not the demented slaughter of almost an entire nation … or nations as it actually became - the illegal sacking of foreign sovereign states, its kind of bizarre really this time and place that we are all subjected to take part in …
but you know I watched a guy that admitted putting his penis into a dead pigs mouth stand as the prime minister of my country and endorse the legacy of one of the most foul monsters that ever graced the british political spectrum - Thatcher , rendering a multi million pound state funeral - a homage museum and grandiose statues to honour the legend of a beast that laid waste to so much ….. all in the interest of bolstering his own irreputable parties questionable grab for power ? !
I can only hope that some historical context will eventually shine these things into the obvious travesty that they are … and I do hope the same is true of Brexit ! and these creeps and loathsome creatures are eventually held completely accountable for their actions ! fair enough Thatcher got away with it , and it looks like Bush and Blair might too …. but surely this cant go on … I was always brought up with the romanticized ideal that monsters are to be slain , not put into positions of untouchable and unquestioned authority !
How Did This all happen ? How did it come to pass ? was there a single incident that plunged everyone and everything over the sheer edge of reason and into pandemic madness ? … The Hadron Collider? did it really rent a hole in the fabric of space and time and send us hurtling through some portal to a dimension where this sort of nonsense is just the accepted norm ? 4G ...5G did we micro wave the common sense out of our whole earths population in the interest of cheap and convenient chat options and instant messaging ? did we simply tip the balance in our fragile eco systems and eschew the ratios of available clean air . water and nutritional intake that are the key ingredients that enables a rational cognitive human mind to ' function ' ? … maybe , maybe a myriad of factors led us like a bunch of lemmings to this veritable cataclysmic cliff edge over a series of utterly apathetic generations ?
Personally I can only really pass comment on the elements that have made themselves apparent over the course of my short lifetime ! For me as I have spouted on numerous occasions before …. Thatcher !! fucking Thatcher is where it began for me !
Of Course Thatcher was only made possible by the preceding demons that seemed to set the trend of zero accountability for the evil and self serving machinations of greedy , sinister and self serving individuals ! I know the Gonzo journalist and my own personal friend and influence Hunter S Thompson felt about Nixon the same way that I feel about Thatcher …. Blair …. Cameron …. May …. and now god forbid any of the other over entitled - utterly incompetent morons that are looking to take the Brexit Helm ( at the time of writing the results were still out and pending ) … these people that really should have unanimously been rendered obsolete as evolutions complete failings !!! …. maybe like the madness of king George or his predecessors every generation has the insufferable burden of having most of their labours completely wasted and squandered squaring up a income percentage , paying homage for people that are so inbred , so utterly inept that without our support would have simply died out through the process of natural selection long ago ? perhaps its just one of those universal truths like gravity …

the original title of this little write up ' Tales from a Cornish Art Gallery ', in this , the age of the Charlatan will I am sure have conjured up the fey impression of buckets and spades shipped in from China , the picture postcard impression of seaside b&b's , ice creams , fish and chips , seagulls and trawler boats … maybe for some even those goddam mcdonalds equivalent of cheap print distributors - the whistle fish - a clever ruse set up by property developers to hawk wares at every end of the consumer demographic ! it seems that overpriced houses just aren't selling like they used too, so whack out a load of cheap prints .. pretend that its actual ' Cornish Art ' or at least a rough homage to what that used to be … and BOOM ! whether these herds of cud chewing tourists and day trippers want to spend £50 or £500,000 - we have a poorly made piece of shit for you - with a suitable mark up between production costs and marketable value t allow a very handsome ' profit margin ' … its all been designed to take advantage of a fool , of the ill informed … the stupid !! of course all of this revenue is syphoned out of the local , already poor . rural economies - and those lovely profit margins get spent on holidays to Bali , expensive champagne and whatever ego driven masturbatory aide is in vogue this particular moment for those ' affluent ' enough to afford it … hucksters , carpet baggers . charlatans and thieves …but of course it keeps the exchequers economy going , so '' Keep calm and carry on '', it seems that this heady cocktail of opportunistic indulgence - mcdonalds nutrition and celebrity love island ' entertainments ' has rendered even the most ardent mal content into a kind of sedated partially amused suburbanite - which if we carry on in this trajectory will absolutely end up being the doom and demise of us all !
if you relate to any of that ! if you want to inflate your self into some kind of arrogant , self assuring '' I worked hard so I earned it '' despot , then I doubt you will find this to be a very leisurely read ! in fact I will happily advise you to just go and get yourself a copy of the sun newspaper or worse some stags estate agent issued ' cornwall today '' glossy magazine and just rot out the rest of your brain , without feeling the compulsion to have a bash at this original thought , by an original artist … in what has become a very cliché scenario
